Badru Walusansa

Biography

Badru Walusansa is a Human Rights, Governance, and Accountability expert with close to ten years of experience supporting democratic governance and civic accountability initiatives within Uganda’s civil society sector.

He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Human Rights at the University of London, funded by the Institute of Commonwealth Studies. He holds a First Class Honours Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies from Makerere University, specialising in Human Rights, Policy, Governance, and Accountability.

Badru has worked with leading national organisations, including LASPNET, ACCU, and the Foundation for Human Rights Initiative (FHRI), and has managed and supported multi-donor programmes funded by USAID, DGF, UNDP, the European Union, GIZ, UN Women, DANIDA, OXFAM, IDLO, ICNL, EWMI, ADA, UNODC, CORDAID, Internews, and HiiL, among others.

A CivSource Africa Grow Leadership Fellow, AMEL Institute Fellow, and Youth Commonwealth Correspondent for Uganda, he also provides policy advisory support to the Development Eye Initiative, an emerging global policy think tank. His expertise spans project management, monitoring and evaluation, fundraising, leadership development, and policy advocacy.

Badru is a published governance commentator in Uganda’s leading dailies and has consulted for institutions including ACFODE, NCHRD, CIVFUND, LEGATUM, MIRAC, and FIDA-Uganda. He combines strong analytical capacity with practical delivery, positioning him as a credible and results-driven partner in governance and human rights programming.
