YOPE (Youth Organisation for People Empowerment) is a youth-led, community-driven non-profit organisation committed to empowering young people and marginalised communities to navigate and thrive in the digital age. We confront the challenges of cybercrime, cyberbullying, online exploitation, and digital injustice through initiative-taking, inclusive, and transformative solutions.
With a strong belief that digital access should be a right, not a risk, YOPE provides the tools, education, and advocacy needed to build a safer, fairer internet and tech-innovation for everyone, especially for youth and young women.
While rapidly evolving, the digital landscape in sub-Saharan Africa remains deeply unequal in terms of access and safety. As youth increasingly rely on digital platforms for education, employment, and socialisation, a corresponding rise in cyber threats, including cyberbullying, online exploitation, sextortion, and human trafficking, has placed already vulnerable populations, particularly young women, children, and youth, at even greater risk.
